Our Story
"It's in my DNA. I find it hard to imagine doing anything else."
Welcome to Libertine The Label — where clothing isn’t just fabric and thread, it’s part of your story.
Libertine is more than a brand to me — it’s how I’ve made sense of the world since I was a child. I started sewing with my mum at three. By eleven, I was finding second-hand Victorian treasures and reworking them into outfits that felt more like me.
After three decades in the fashion industry, running cult-loved labels like Tantrum and Libertine, life hit pause. A Breast cancer diagnosis threw my world into turmoil, and I didn't realise the toll the stress would have on me. Then a pandemic. Everything changed. But the spark didn’t go out — it just shifted. And now, Libertine is reborn, for all of us Girls who’ve grown up, changed shape .... babies, menopause, the lot, a shifted pace, but we still want to feel beautiful, bold, and ourselves.
I know how hard it is to trust a new brand — especially online. To wonder if it will fit, if it’s worth it, if the fabric will breathe, if it’s cut for you. That’s why I design with real women in mind. Mid-size bodies. Menopause symptoms and all. Arms we sometimes want covered. Waistlines that fluctuate. I use natural, breathable fibres where I can that feel good all day, cuts that move with you, and thoughtful details that make dressing joyful again.
We make small batches — no mass production, no waste. Just well-crafted clothes that you’ll want to wear on repeat, across seasons, across moods. This is fashion made with heart — to become part of your life, not just your wardrobe.
I’m so glad you’re here.

SUSTAINABILITY
We have big dreams for Libertine The Label in minimising any negative impacts of our garment production on the planet. Here's where we are at in our sustainability journey:

We use biodegradable, natural fibres as much as possible in our garments including cotton, bamboo, rayon (viscose), silk, linen.

for our fabrics we only produce exactly what we need, never in excess. We try to reduce transportation impacts (carbon emissions) by buying stock fabric local to our manufacturers and by shipping our finished garments via sea freight whenever possible. We use biodegradable cardboard cartons.
